![]() Weird thing about mine, I took it all apart and figured out how the latch worked (seems like a bad method to me, just two pieces of metal rubbing against each other), and it seemed to be doing fine. I had to pop the smalle upper grille out, and use a really long extension to get the bolts on either side of the latch with a socket. It's just way too strong for that, and the mechanisms are all facing away from you. I couldn't figure a way to release the latch with my hand. If it's the pull mechanism though, then it might work. I think that will be the case for everyone who has a bad latch. Took all of 2 minutes to execute and a week of procrastinating / time spent trying to figure it out.Ĭlick to expand.I tried that, but it didn't work. ![]() This will give you access need to manually pull on the release cable. ![]() This should give you just enough room to get your arm through the bumper. In order to remove the rear bumper requires having access to the engine bay, and I was not able to reach the release cable from underneath the car. After a week of being garaged and having the door open, the battery dies. The problem was that with the taillight damaged and the state inspection coming up, I needed to get to open the engine bay, but could not figure out how to pop the release. The car has a little body damage on the right-passenger fender. I went to pop my engine bay a while back and I ended up reaching a point where I started to bend the level instead of pull on the release cable. I am not sure if this has been posted before, but I would have found it helpful last week when I was looking into it.
